  How is it November Already? Hello families, These weeks are flying by in our classroom. November will be another busy month.  - November 10th - Virtual Remembrance Day Assembly - November 11th - Remembrance Day - NO SCHOOL - November 12th - Picture day retakes - November 12th - Vaccines for grade 6 students - November 16th - 22nd - Virtual Book Fair - use the link for shopping.  Shopify URL for Virtual Bookfair - November 19th - 20th - Learning Conferences The students made some beautiful Remembrance Day art. 

Updates and reminders

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.  Fall is my favourite season.  This month: - October 14th is the due date for students Wetland projects. Many students have gathered materials from the classroom to build their wetland and are welcome to ask if they need other items.  - October 14th is also the due date for the Social Studies work on Canada - October 15th is school photo day.  In Language Arts - We have been working on making connections to our reading  In Math - we have been working on patterning, expressions, and variables Please note: If your child is absent from school they can access class activities on the Google Classroom. There are weekly journal prompts and math problem of the week for students to work on.  Stay healthy, stay well.

  Hello families! Check out our classroom. We are having a great transition back to school. The students are enthusiastic about outdoor learning and our class council elections Events for the week of Sept 28th - Oct 2nd - Terry Fox run - Sept 28th - classes have been challenged to raise $40 per class - Class elections - Sept 30th - Orange Shirt Day - Sept 30th Please ask your child to show you our Google Classroom. Students will have access to this for missed work and work extensions.  Please feel free to contact me ankousouris@cbe.ab.ca If you would like blog updates please subscribe. 

Meet the Teacher Conferences phone calls

 Here we are starting the first week of Fall.  I hope you all have an opportunity to book a phone call conference time this week. I look forward to speak with you.  This weeks HIGHLIGHTS : We will have our class council speeches for students who are running for positions this term.  - Tuesday, September 22 - Grade 5 councilor speeches - Wednesday, September 23 - Grade 6 councilor speeches - Thursday, September 24 - Mayor speeches Elections will take place the following week. This year curriculum updates and practice work will be posted on our Google Classroom. It is a closed network and you and your child will be able to log on with your child's educbe.ca account. 

Welcome Back 2020/2021 School Year

I certainly hope you've had an amazing start to the school year and are excited to be back at school. There are a few reminders I would like to post for you. Please take note of each item so students are set up for success: 1)    Reminder about “Soft Entry”. To help ease students coming into the school, our grade 5/6 doors will be open at 8:15 and students are allowed to come in anytime between then and 8:30 when class starts. During that time, students will be supervised and allowed to do any catch-up work, read, meet with the teacher, get a head-start on other activities, etc.   2)    Some things that your student could bring and keep at school: a.     Indoor shoes, if you haven’t already brought a pair. b.     A water bottle that goes home every day to be cleaned. c.     A reading book that can be left at school for a period of time.  d.     A pair of their own headphones and ear buds that can be left at school.  e.     A deck of their own cards if possible. We will use these fo
