Mark your calendar - Our grade 5/6 exhibition night is Wednesday, February 26th between 6:00 - 8:00 - Further details will come home soon.

Grade 6 junior high open house for SPB and Branton are both on February 6th - SPB
6:30 pm - 7:30 pm and Branton from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

ELA- Students are working on developing their narrative story writing process. They are working on organizing the main parts of a story using a story plan while using various picture books to determine characters, setting, problem/challenge, story events, climax, solution and ending.

Science- Students have started their next unit in Sky Science. Students have been assigned a moon phase chart and are asked to record the phase of the moon daily for the month of February. They can use www.moongiant.com as a reference. 

Social Studies/ELA/Exhibition- Students are working with the artist, Kris Demeanor to tell the story of Canadians who have made an impact in our lives today. This work is also connected with the novel study, Underground to Canada by Barbara Smucker

 Here we are starting the first week of Fall.  I hope you all have an opportunity to book a phone call conference time this week. I look forward to speak with you.  This weeks HIGHLIGHTS : We will have our class council speeches for students who are running for positions this term.  - Tuesday, September 22 - Grade 5 councilor speeches - Wednesday, September 23 - Grade 6 councilor speeches - Thursday, September 24 - Mayor speeches Elections will take place the following week. This year curriculum updates and practice work will be posted on our Google Classroom. It is a closed network and you and your child will be able to log on with your child's educbe.ca account.

Updates and reminders

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.  Fall is my favourite season.  This month: - October 14th is the due date for students Wetland projects. Many students have gathered materials from the classroom to build their wetland and are welcome to ask if they need other items.  - October 14th is also the due date for the Social Studies work on Canada - October 15th is school photo day.  In Language Arts - We have been working on making connections to our reading  In Math - we have been working on patterning, expressions, and variables Please note: If your child is absent from school they can access class activities on the Google Classroom. There are weekly journal prompts and math problem of the week for students to work on.  Stay healthy, stay well.

Welcome Back 2020/2021 School Year

I certainly hope you've had an amazing start to the school year and are excited to be back at school. There are a few reminders I would like to post for you. Please take note of each item so students are set up for success: 1)    Reminder about “Soft Entry”. To help ease students coming into the school, our grade 5/6 doors will be open at 8:15 and students are allowed to come in anytime between then and 8:30 when class starts. During that time, students will be supervised and allowed to do any catch-up work, read, meet with the teacher, get a head-start on other activities, etc.   2)    Some things that your student could bring and keep at school: a.     Indoor shoes, if you haven’t already brought a pair. b.     A water bottle that goes home every day to be cleaned. c.     A reading book that can be left at school for a period of time.  d.     A pair of thei...
